Texas 12-year-old to Be Charged With Murder After Shooting Fast-food Worker

Authorities in Texas say they arrested a 12-year-old boy on suspicion of murdering a fast-food worker with an AR-15 weapon. This allegedly happened during a dispute with another adult, who also faces charges concerning the fatal shot.

Confrontation and Shooting

According to the Keene Police Department, the incident took place late on Saturday night at a Sonic drive-in restaurant located in the Dallas suburb of Keene. When the police came, they discovered Matthew Davis, 32, suffering from several gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, he didn’t make it.

Angel Gomez, 20, is suspected by the authorities of having been at a Sonic restaurant with passengers in his vehicle. According to the police, he started yelling and behaving disorderly in the parking lot. This prompted an employee of Sonic named Davis to confront him.

Per Fox Dallas, when Davis came to speak to Gomez in the back of the parking lot, Gomez was apparently in the act of urinating on the floor.

During the altercation, the suspect in the shooting, a 12-year-old boy who remains unidentified and was a passenger in Gomez’s vehicle, allegedly snatched the AR-15 gun from the car and opened fire, according to the authorities.

Davis was hit by multiple bullets.

Escape and Arrest

Gomez and a child made their escape from the location.

After returning to the scene later, Gomez was taken into custody. Following this, the child was apprehended inside a residence where, according to the authorities, multiple weapons were found.

Both are facing charges related to the homicide.

Davis’ family informed the press that he relocated to Keene and had begun working at the Sonic restaurant there two weeks prior. He is survived by a son who is one year old.

It is truly a sad and unfortunate incident, with lives ruined and damage done. This further shows the need for better security and the importance of gun safety.
