According to The New York Post, environmental attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his candidacy for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination on Wednesday.
The 69-year-old nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy and son of the assassinated 1968 presidential contender Robert Kennedy made his announcement at Boston’s Park Plaza Hotel.
He emphasized his goal of dismantling the “insidious amalgamation of state and corporate authority” in his campaign and potential presidency.
Controversial Stances on 2020 Election, Capitol Attack
However, Kennedy has been known to associate with far-right figures. He has taken controversial stances on issues like the 2020 presidential election and the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
His challenge to President Biden seems unlikely to succeed; his anti-vaccine stance conflicts with the majority of Democratic voters. Marianne Williamson, a self-help author who ran in 2020, also announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination.
