Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asserted the inability to increase the debt ceiling will result in extreme economic turmoil in the United States, as the House debt ceiling talks continued.
Ocasio-Cortez Issues Warning
On Tuesday, earlier this week, Ocasio-Cortez remarked on CNN that the consequences of default could not be underestimated.
The congresswoman said they must take default off the agenda because of the pandemonium that would result in and its immediate effects on civilians’ daily lives.
She continued to say Republicans must approve increasing the debt limit since, honestly, this is an extremely dire scenario that nobody would like. “This is not a partisan issue,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.
Republicans are supporting the House-passed Limit, Save, Grow Act, which proposes increasing the federal borrowing limit by $1.5 trillion, while simultaneously lowering expenditures by around $150 billion between this year to the following year.
Republicans have opposed Democrats’ insistence on extending the debt ceiling without restrictions.
This is the Economics major speaking that apparently knows nothing about economics
This is the type of behavior we have come to expect from a socialist @RepAOC

As Republicans sought to reduce the budget deficit, Ocasio-Cortez kept on criticizing them.
“It is careless and negligent. Both urban and rural areas will suffer as a result. Seniors and children participating in Head Start programs will be harmed,” she claimed.

The 14th Amendment declares the legitimacy of the collective debt of the nation as sanctioned by law shall not be called into question.
The 14th Amendment has also been invoked by Biden as an opportunity to defy Republican requirements and immediately raise the ceiling without Congress.
Ocasio-Cortez used language that has been echoed across the Democrat Party when she claimed that Republicans were holding the United States “hostage” in the debt ceiling talks.
McCarthy Urges Resolution
